Caudéran was a town in its own right until 1965. It was therefore never drawn as a quarter of Bordeaux but as a town, with its own schools, shops, sports grounds and large park. That autonomy explains everything found there today: wide planted avenues, detached houses on private plots, a park of twenty-eight hectares and nearly three thousand trees, a golf course among the oldest in France.
